Membrane Surfaces Inc., trading as PVC Pools, was incorporated in Ontario in June 2025 with this office. The two of us came to Canada in May 2025 after twelve years of membrane pools in Russia and Kazakhstan; the whole story is on about us.

We answer from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days, in English, French or Russian, at +1 437 696-3515.

Three kinds of pool job we take in Vaughan

People in Woodbridge and Kleinburg search for pool builders, pool installation and pool renovation. Here is where membrane comes into each of them.

A new pool going inWith your builder

The shell is built first, by the pool company you hired. Then we lay a geotextile underlay over the floor and walls, weld the reinforced membrane to it sheet by sheet, shape the steps and corners by hand and seal every drain, return, light and skimmer with its own flange. Our membrane installation page walks through the six stages with photographs from our jobs.

The City of Vaughan issues pool permits before installation, and any body of water 30 inches or more in depth needs one (City of Vaughan, Swimming Pool). The permit comes with building the pool, long before our part; the membrane goes in once the shell is ready.

An old pool re-linedConcrete, tiled or liner

An older pool can get a new surface without breaking out the shell. The old liner comes out or the old surface is prepared, the shell is put right where it needs it, and the membrane is welded over an underlay on the walls and floor that are already there. Our pool renovation page shows a round public pool before and after.

Most old pools in Vaughan have steps or a bench at the shallow end. Those are lined piece by piece, tread and riser, as our page on steps and benches in membrane shows in a section drawing.

A membrane pool losing waterRepair

Seams, a tear, a wrinkle, or the membrane around a fitting. We find where the water goes, reweld or patch it, and reinstall the flanges. One pool we were called to had already had two repair attempts before us; its story is on our membrane repair page.

Before calling anyone, a bucket set on a step for two or three days tells you whether it is a leak or evaporation. Our article on a membrane pool losing water explains how to read it.

Draining an old pool in Vaughan before it is re-lined

A pool is empty before a new membrane goes in, and in Vaughan where that water goes is set by the City. These are the City's own rules from its Pool Water Disposal page, laid out on the days they fall on.

14 days

Two weeks before

  • Stop adding chemicals to a chlorinated pool.
  • Agree the start of the membrane work with us, so the pool does not stand empty for weeks.
1 day

The day before

  • Dechlorinate the water.
  • Check that the pH is above 6.0 and below 9.0.
  • Clear leaves, debris and algae out of the water.
  • Look at the forecast: the City asks for a clear, dry day.
Day 0

Draining day

  • Run the hose onto your own lawn, at a rate the ground can soak up, with nothing running towards the house or the neighbours.
  • Do it in the evening after 8 p.m., or on a weekend after 10 a.m.
  • Salt water and filter backwash may go to the sanitary sewer inside the house, a laundry sink or a toilet, as a last option.
!

Chlorinated or salt water never goes into a catch basin on the street, and never into a ravine or valley or onto the ground near one. If your yard backs onto a ravine, the lawn is not an option for this water either.

The City says the property owner and the pool company are both responsible for this. Service Vaughan answers questions about it at 905-832-2281.

What goes on your walls

The membrane is the finish you see and the layer that keeps the water in. We install reinforced membranes from RENOLIT, Poolside by CGT and SOPREMA, and we have sample books from all three, so you choose the colour from the real material, not from a screen. Plain blues and whites, greys, stone looks, marble looks and mosaic prints are on our membranes and colours page.

The pool in this photograph is one of ours, on a narrow lot with the house close to the water. The white marble pattern runs over the steps at the far end, and the light in the wall sits in its own flange.

We hold the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN installer certification and SOPREMAPOOL training certificates. The documents are published on our company documents page.

Two ways to start with a Vaughan pool

Send photographs

Tell us the street or the community, when the pool was built, what is on it now and what went wrong with it. Add photographs of the whole pool from each corner, the steps, the skimmer and the main drain. A closed pool can be described now and planned before spring.

If the pool is concrete or tiled, our article on getting an old concrete pool ready for membrane lists what to photograph part by part.

Ask for a visit

When the photographs leave a question, one of us comes to look. Anywhere in Vaughan is inside our 40 km, so the visit costs you nothing.

Questions from pool owners in Vaughan

Do you come to look at a pool in Vaughan?

Yes. Our office is on Woodbridge Avenue and every part of Vaughan is inside the 40 km around it, where our site visits are free. Most estimates start from photographs, and we arrange a visit when the pictures leave a question.

Who drains the old pool before it is re-lined?

Talk to us before anyone drains it. The City of Vaughan has rules for where pool water may go, and the timing of the draining depends on when we can start the membrane work.

Can you work with the builder who is putting in our new pool?

Yes. In most cases we work as subcontractors for pool companies. Your builder finishes the shell, and we lay the underlay, weld the membrane and seal every fitting with a flange.
